Roma Arcadia – Montecucco al trullo / Lomography 36 shots about Roma
Between Magliana and Portuense streets, a hill stands tall – largely unknown to most – where activities that once characterized life in the Roman countryside still survive. Monte Cucco is an area dedicated to pastoralism and an archaeological site (the Righetti Tower, which looms imposingly over the EUR, was once a hunting lodge) nestled in the Trullo district. It represents one of the numerous and recurring examples (mostly arising from neighborhoods outside the Aurelian walls to the GRA) of the relationship and coexistence between the rural element and the borgata, between the vestiges of the Eternal City and its more remote, almost forgotten places. An urban landscape that belongs to Rome and no other city.
This visual research aims to be a small testimony of the urbanistic evolutions that have characterized this area and delve into the relationship between two elements, at times almost antithetical, belonging to the same territory.
Roma Arcadia is a 36 Shots About 2023 edition’s finalist, a call promoted by Lomography Italy and Perimetro.
